How to Support Local Businesses This Holiday Season

Shop small. Shop local. Together, we can make a big difference in our community this holiday season.

This holiday season, we want to challenge our community to shop locally in Lebanon. This year has been hard on small businesses and the holiday season presents a time where we can work together to help support them.

Before you make a purchase from a big-box store, try looking around town to see if another smaller vendor might have what you need!

Even if you aren't able to make purchases this holiday season, there are still ways to support local businesses in our community!

1. Follow and engage with businesses on social media.

Engagement on social media pages can boost the visibility of a page. This means the posts/updates that are shared by that business will likely be seen by more people. Engagement can look like liking/following the page of a business, liking/commenting on posts, sharing posts, or even creating your own post and tagging the business!

Don’t forget to sign up for emails from your favorite businesses! Sometimes the best deals get sent out to email subscribers!

2. Write a review!

Reviews help customers and businesses! They can help a customer see if a business might be a good fit for them, but businesses also love seeing feedback from their customers! And, reviews can help a business with online visibility. More visibility is always a good thing!

3. Spread the word about a business.

There is no better recommendation than a recommendation from a friend or family member that you trust. We are all experts in our own way about what our community has to offer, so don’t be shy! Share your knowledge of the community and everyone wins!

As a locally owned business in Lebanon, we thought we'd take a minute and re-introduce ourselves!

Our store started in Lebanon in 1953 as Oz. & Burl’s Building Supply. In 1961, Robert E. Weatherly and Mary Jane Weatherly purchased the property and changed the name of the business to a name a lot of your are familiar with: Economy Supply. Then the business was passed on to two of Robert’s sons, Gary Weatherly and Robert Weatherly Jr. The Weatherly brothers ran the business successfully for over thirty years.

In 2014, four employees of the business, Richard Micklewright, Nathan Micklewright, Isaac Lynn, and Dave Stubblefield purchased the business from the Weatherlys. In 2019, Economy Supply finished construction of its new, state of the art garden center and boutique greenhouse. At this time, the business took on a new name- Summit Ace Home & Garden.

Our new 4,000-square-foot retail building provides a home for a wide range of lawn and garden supplies that we are excited to stock. This includes everything from hand tools and power tools, to organic fertilizers, barbecues, and patio furniture. Our greenhouse offers a selection of custom planted hanging baskets and potted arrangements as well as a wide variety of flats of annuals and premium perennials. Our inventory of plants and shrubs are sourced locally from Van Essen Nursery and Peoria Gardens.

The addition of this new retail space has allowed our company to significantly expand and update some of the departments in our main store. The plumbing and electrical departments have undergone significant improvements. We have also recently completed construction of a large covered lumber warehouse which allows for the protected storage of our full size lumberyard.

In our main store, we have everything you need for almost any project. Whether it’s an in depth remodel or a simple room you are painting, we can help you get the supplies and knowledge you need to get the job done. Our contractor center can help you plan out larger projects and even schedule a delivery.

Our business model at Summit Ace is laser focused on customer service. We strive to provide customers with an amazing experience every time they come into our store. Our knowledgeable associates are here to help!
